AFROPHON’
identity for a Fair of Contemporary Art Books from Africa
Arles, France 2022
Identity design for AFROPHON’, an art book fair conceived by curator Gee Wesley, dedicated to contemporary art books and independent publications from Africa.
Afrophon’s visual identity is rooted in ideas of circulation, objects in orbit, location/place. This system asserts Afrophon’ as an epicenter—one concerned with the dialogue and sociality inherent in sharing publications, and sharing space over publications. Leading with an accessible and playful tone, ideas of directionality and location, and community played key roles in the development of the identity.
