I was asked approached by Gonzalo Casals, the Director of Public Programs to create a printed publication to accompany the program SPIC UP! SPIC OUT! A festival of Latino Spoken Word Poetry at El Museo del Barrio.
The program title sounds like “SPEAK UP” if you speak english with a native spanish speaking accent. Not everyone appreciated it, and after some debate the title was changed. The design features fluorescent ink and sculptural collages commissioned from artist Juan Bentancurth. All layouts use the center axis rather than top or bottom aignment, creating a sense of outward movement.
